Deals Rummy and Points Rummy are some of the favourite and popular formats of rummy games usually played during tournaments. While deals rummy game is played for a pre-decided number of deals, points rummy is one of the fastest forms of rummy which is played for points which are assigned a pre-decided rupee value.
In deals rummy, a winner is decided on the basis of number of chips he has won playing each deal whereas in points rummy, a winner is the player with lowest points at the end of each round. Although, points rummy is the fastest format of the game, deals rummy is much more exciting as a player gets more time to utilize his best skills as well as he will get more chances to win the game.
Positives of Deals Rummy
The Deals Rummy game is played with a maximum of 6 players with one or more packs of standard 53 cards deck. The game is begins after a pre-decided number of deals and a fixed number of chips are allocated to each player participating in the game. The game is played just like other formats of the game and the aim of the game is to make sequences and sets in fastest time possible to win the game. The player who finishes the game first will receive the chips from the losing opponents according to their score.
2 Player Deals Rummy: If only 2 players are playing, you cannot drop out of the game and have to play until all the deals are finished. If any one of the player misses three consecutive turns, he will be automatically dropped with a score that is equal to the points on hand but capped at 80 points.
2 Players and Above: Players are allowed to drop out of the game if more than 2 players are playing. To initiate a Drop, a player must not pick a card on that turn. If a player drops on their first turn, it will be called First Drop and will cost him 20 points. If a player drops anywhere in the middle of the game, it will be called a Middle Drop and will cost him 40 points.
On some rare moments, there will be instances when a player may miss 3 consecutive chances. When this occurs, he will be dropped out of the game and will be assigned with Middle Drop scores.
Positives of Points Rummy
Points Rummy is the faster format of the game and is one of the favourites to play on online rummy platforms, both as free rummy and cash rummy. Just like Deals Rummy, this format of rummy also requires a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 6 players with 2 or more packs of standard 53 cards deck including the printed jokers. The aim of the game is to make sets and sequences so as to win the game. The winner is the player who has zero points on his hands at the end of the game.
Points Rummy is much simpler and faster format of the game where players have to join the game by bringing a minimum amount to the table. The game is played for points instead of deals as we saw in Deals Rummy. Each point in this format of the rummy game has a pre-decided rupee value which is calculated against the sum of points of all opponents to get the winning amount.
No Joker Points Rummy
No Joker Points Rummy is a variant of the points rummy format in which only Printed Jokers are used. In this variant, game lasts for only one deal and the points are assigned with a pre-determined value. If a player drops out of the game, the first drop will cost 10 points and middle drop will cost him 30 points. To win the game, a player have to make a pure sequence, a sequence with our without printed joker and the remaining cards can be made to sets/sequences. The player with zero points will be the winner and the total points of the opponents will calculated towards his winnings.
