21 cards rummy is undoubtedly the most strategic card game ever! Played with 21 cards, this rummy variant has complicated gameplay, complex rules and confusing terms. Value Cards

Value cards can be called as additional jokers in 21 cards rummy. They can be used as a replacement for any other card. There are three types of such cards in 21s cards rummy.

Cut Joker: The cut joker refers to the exact card that has been randomly chosen as Wild Joker. If 7♣ is selected as the Wild Joker in the beginning of the game, then 7♣ will be known as the Cut Joker.

Upper Joker: The card whose value is one rank higher than Cut Joker is called as the Upper Joker. Continuing with the above example, if 7♣ is the Cut Joker, then 8♣ will be the Upper Joker.

Lower Joker: The card whose value is one rank lower than the Cut Joker is called as the Lower Joker.  6♣ will be the lower joker if 7♣ is the Cut Joker.

Special Groups

Besides sequences and sets, there are two important groups in 21 cards rummy that will help you to win the game. These groups are Tunnela and Dublee.

Tunnela: A group of three matching cards which are of the same rank and suit is called as Tunnela. For example, K♣ K♣ K♣ will become Tunnela when grouped together. Jokers cannot be used to form Tunnela but a group of three Printed Jokers can become a Tunnela. In 21 cards rummy, Tunnela can be used as a pure sequence to win the game.

Dublee: A group of two matching cards which are of the same rank and suit is called as Dublee. A group of Q♣ Q♣ will become Dublee if grouped together. Just like in Tunnela, Jokers cannot be used to form Dublee but a group of two printed jokers can become a Dublee.

Marriage in Hand

Marriage in hand is a super sequence that can give you 100 points from your opponents in 21 cards rummy. Marriage is a group of cut, lower and upper jokers. For example if 7♣ is the cut joker, then marriage in hand is 6♣ 7♣ 8♣.
